Who We Are
Mini Grids Plus is an Independent Power Producer Company (IPP) established in Somalia to provide solutions in the areas of Solar Energy access. We are interested in enhancing and complementing rural electrification in Somalia through solar energy which is a main pillar of Mini Grids Plus. We plan to form Power Purchase Agreements with local electric service providers in rural Somalia; with established power distribution network to provide power at a reduced rate in which they can comfortably deliver power to Somalis households at a price 30%-40% lower than their current rate.
The Mini Grids Plus offers a full-service portfolio for solar projects that includes advisory, procurement, engineering and project development by providing reliable and affordable power generated from renewable sources that will definitely improves the lives of people in rural areas of Somalia and that’s the rationale of establishing Mini Grids Plus. In light of this, Mini Grids Plus aims to improve the quality of life of the people by encouraging people the use of appliance like A/C, oven, refrigerator, washing machine and other industrial machines. Using reliable and affordable electricity can help flourishing of businesses, facilitate use of modern medical equipment, promote educational sector and other social amenities.
Mini Grids Plus has a window of opportunities in the electrification of Somalia. We have noted that electrical companies are cramped in major cities having none or limited presences in the rural areas. Electrical service providers in rural areas utilize obsolete high speed diesel generators and poorly designed distribution networks.
Abundance of renewable energy sources – Somalia has the advantage of having enough solar energy that can power the entire nation but the unavailability of quality and reliable solar energy has created an eminent gap. Mini Grids Plus seeks to bridge this gap by providing uncompromised solar power to the people of Somalia.
